User Info: Planescaped Planescaped 10 years ago 2 I was level 35 on a second playthrough where I knew what I was doing when I leveled my character, had the Vran armor and the elder blood set and I had to try 6 times before I beat him.

I just finished the game on Iorveth's path saving Triss and havent seen any fight where someone summons gargoyles. Originally posted by Tirigon :. However, I dont remember ever getting an encrypted manuscript anyways.

I set the game down for a bit and have tried coming back to it and I am still consistantly getting my ass kicked. I can usually make it to the 2nd set of gargoyles but I just run out of health trying to keep the gargoyles off my ass and getting incinerated by the mage. I just cant get past this and nothing I have seen or heard has really helped me as there isn't any real new videos showing how it is done after they patched it up to ratchet up the difficulty.

This is frustrating as hell and I don't want to proceed without eliminating this guy. Keep Quen up constantly and stun gargoyles with Aard or Yrden both work; Aard is less reliable but offers a good chance of insta-kill, so it's a matter of choice. That's how I did it. The fight sucks ass though and is also quite buggy. One of the game's worst ones without a doubt. Originally posted by abexomotron :. Originally posted by Daedalus :. I did the pillar trick and after 2 backstabs and 2 gargoyle spawns he killed himself with his own fireball.

Beforehand I tried so many times and got pissed at the fight but this was pure gold. Quen of course to keep from getting slammed by the gargoyles if they hit me in the back, etc. I ran behind the pillars, trying to use them to keep the gargoyles from double teaming me. I kept moving so the mage fireballs wouldn't get me either. The other 2 and a half I was just desperate and think hard of how to beat this guy.

Tried different signs, different potions combinations, different talent allocations with the 14 unspent talents. I spent most of my talents at the swordsman path.

The potions I used was Swallow and Golden Oriole. And after 4,5 hours of miserable, nonstop swearing experience, The Operator finally went down for good!

The key to my style of playing is simple, I don't know if this works for anybody else, but the key is Dancing Star. Throw lots of em! Burn the whole place down! I don't bother changing the swords, since I tried them, and it wasn't work for me.

I used Blood Sword only. When the gargoyle appears I cast Quen, dodging around, and when there's enough space, I throw lots of Dancing Star all over the place, and see if there's an opportunity for killing the gargoyles. It seems that Dancing Star's flame do damage to The Operator even when his shield's on, and do quite damage for the gargoyles.

And if you're lucky, The Operator might incinerated, which forbid him from casting those shitty fireballs at you! And finally, if there's an opportunity after the third wave of gargoyles finish him!! I gotta tell you I almost jumped out of my seat and swearing at the monitor at 2.

And now I'm so sleepy, yet I need to work. Great job, CDPR. Now you guys responsible for making me have to go to work with the state like I've just had 8 rounds in bed.

Great game this is. Congratulations - it feels great when you finally get him, doesn't it? And yes, the hardest fight in the game. And yes, Dancing Star rules. It feels really great! I played the entire game on hard, but I finally gave up and put the difficulty down to easy just for that fight, and it was still a bitch. I'll be honest though.. In fact, after I finally beat him, I decided to reload and chose not to fight him.

That just felt like the more proper decision to me. Operator drops dragonscale needed to craft the special silver sword and although his staff is not the best ingame weapon, it's fancy looking during the fight. There is something more to that staff - it says it's a quest item?

What quest? And in my case it just didn't sound right to hide from him that I'm not the one he expects. May 24th, , Gargoyles are triggered at distinct percentages. I had to tone the difficulty down to easy from normal - darn things were getting shots off for damage on normal. There's dragon scales elsewhere in the game, you don't need to kill him.

What weapon is crafted with Dragon Scales? I finished every quest in the game and explored everywhere, but I never came across plans for a sword that needed those.
